When you’re packing, you will likely be the most focused on the things you’re going to need when you’re in your destination, but what about making your way there? There are plenty of things that you should have in your bag to help you have the smoothest flights ever. Consider making a bit of extra room in your carry-on luggage so that you can make space for these items and have the best possible journey no matter where you’re headed. Here are just a few of the top essentials for a smooth flight!
It should go without saying that a neck pillow is a great thing to bring along for the ride, especially if your flight is going to be a long one. If you suspect you might need some sleep while you’re in the air, having a neck pillow to prevent your head from rolling all around and putting a strain on your neck will be of the utmost importance.
While falling asleep in the air is easy for some people, for other people it’s a bit trickier. If you know you won’t be able to fall asleep as easily, you might want to think about bringing an eye mask on the flight with you so that you can. This is also great in the event that you get placed in a window seat but aren’t fond of them. Closing your window is one thing, but there are always windows close by that will be in your line of sight and it might just be better to block them out completely.
For the vast majority of people, their ears will “pop” as they ascend or descend during their flights to or from their destination due to the air pressure changes. It’s an uncomfortable feeling that you can combat partially by having ear plugs close by, with another great trick being chewing gum during takeoff and landing. Having ear plugs is a good idea since most airlines won’t even offer them for purchase during your flight.
Blanket or Scarf
When people are headed to a hot destination, they tend to forget that the temperature drops so significantly while you’re in the air. It’ll be important to have a blanket with you so that you can avoid this air cabin chill! Try to stick with light blankets that you can still comfortably pack into your carry-on luggage without taking up too much space. Think living room throw instead of bedroom comforter. Another option is to use a large scarf to do the same job. Pashminas and scarves like it are an excellent option.
In-Flight Device and Cup Holder
It can be tricky to hold all of the things you need to without using the often space-restrictive fold down table. If you brought a tablet with you to keep you entertained, holding it or trying to prop it up to face you might be tricky. A device holder and cup holder is the best way to solve this, as something that will hold your device up to face you and play any media you need as well as a cup or bottle.
