There’s plenty of destinations where you can see some of the world’s most beautiful mountains each morning from your hotel or guest house, or climb them if you’re more on the adventurous side. For some reason, we tend to be attracted to heights in some way, even those who are afraid of them! Mountains have inspirational value for ys most of the time, and even the view of them can help us reach new realizations and epiphanies, or help us set goals for ourselves. They can also be a way of bringing us back to reality. No matter what you get from the experience, seeing some of the world’s most breathtaking mountains is great for any trip. Here are just a few that you need to see to believe!

The Matterhorn, Switzerland

As one of the most striking mountains in the world, this one stands out from the rest and is immediate recognizable, as an iconic part of the Swiss Alps. It’s one of the most photographed mountains in the world and is just as much known for its beauty as it is its adventure! For travellers with a bit more of an adventurous side, it’s an exciting climb; albeit a dangerous one.

Denali, Alaska

Any mountain can cover a skyline, but none quite like Denali. There are tons of tours that come here year after year to see the amazing views from this mountain’s peak. It might not be the highest in the world, but it’s quite a drop to the ground below that makes for an amazing view of most of Alaska.

Kirkjufell, Iceland

This mountain is known a little bit less for its stature, and more for its structure and composition. With a sculpted appearance, the mountain’s slopes are smooth and almost even looking, making it look perfect symmetrical from any angle. The mountain is much more about architectural aesthetics and beauty than sheer size like many of the others on this list!

Ama Dablam, Nepal

As one of the tallest mountains in Nepal,  it’s truly one that you’ll never forget. There are plenty of jagged edges and surprise angles, giving it a truly unique appearance that becomes more apparent when snow settles on the mountain’s peak.

Mount Eiger, Switzerland

More than its appearance, this mountain is tricky but satisfying to those looking to climb and conquer it. It’s one of the most beautiful mountains in the heart of Switzerland, but also one of the most dangerous. It’s said that people have perished trying to climb it, so it’s not something that should be taken lightly!

Machapuchare, Himalayas

This mountain is another one that’s so much more than height, it’s a unique looking mountain with a face that plunges straight down in a deep curve. With it’s highest point topped in snow, it makes for an amazing visual experience.
